Sergio Aparicio is actively involved in the startup community in Columbia, and believes that entrepreneurism is the most sustainable resource for economic growth. He also has extensive experience in small business enterprises and business recruitment, and currently works at the City of Columbia Economic Development Office as an Economic Business Development Manager. Sergio is currently pursuing a certification in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). He is a recent graduate of the South Carolina Economic Development Institute (SCEDA). Additionally, he is a recent graduate of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2017. Presently, he is a co-organizer of 1 Million Cups Columbia and a former co-organizer of Soda City Startup (Startup Weekend). He is actively serving on the Small Business Council for the Chamber of Commerce. He attended the University of South Carolina for Business Administration and Marketing, the University of Simon Fraser, Vancouver Canada for Economics and London College, UK for Computer Networking Technology. As part of his diverse international background, Sergio is originally from South America, and has lived, worked, studied in Europe, North, Central and South America and has served in various professional positions dealing with international firms.
